What it means
Grey rock means giving as little emotional reaction as possible during unavoidable contact — short answers, neutral face, no personal detail. It's a short-term shield for tense moments, not a way to live forever.
What it can look like
They try to bait you into a fight at pickup. You reply, 'Okay. See you Sunday,' load the car, and drive off. On the way home you exhale for the first time all day.
