Flying monkeys
What it means
Named after the Wizard of Oz, flying monkeys are people the narcissist recruits to do their bidding — a sibling who lectures you, a mutual friend passing 'just checking in' messages, or relatives urging you to forgive. Sometimes they mean well; sometimes they don't. Either way, you don't owe them the argument.
What it can look like
An aunt calls: 'Your mother is heartbroken. After everything she's done for you, how can you be so cold?' You feel guilt rise. She never once asked what actually happened.
